Staples Canada starts 3D printing pilot program
The office supply chain Staples is launching a new program in Canada designed to bring 3D printing closer to the general public. It will offer 3D printing in several of its stores. Staples Canada also plans to give away one Afinia 3D printer via their network of social media pages where customers have to guess what object is being printed to enter a lottery.

Research shows that the potential of mailings is not yet fully used
When Ricoh and the British DMA asked users which innovations they would like to see to enhance the effectiveness of mail ads, they were surprised by the answers. The majority of users asked for better personalization and customization, unaware that these options are already technically viable.

MPS starts assembling presses in the U.S.
To be able to react to customer demand faster and more flexibly, Dutch press manufacturer MPS has signed an agreement with Wisconsin-based equipment manufacturer EMT to assemble presses in the U.S. This move is designed to cut delivery times and give customers better access to tailor-made solutions.

UPM Raflatac offers tamper-resistant labeling materials
The Finnish company UPM Raflatac has launched a range of pharmaceutical labeling materials, which support compliance with the Falsified Medicines Directive (2011/62/EU) regarding packaging for prescription drugs and high-risk, over-the-counter medicines. Good printability with thermal transfer enables automated sample management and helps eliminate the possibility of human error when marking by hand.

CFH Docmail invests in mailing equipment
To be able to offer improved personalized mail and reduce its environmental footprint, UK print and mail specialist CFH Docmail has invested approximately 1.3 million British pounds in new inserting, printing and reading technology from Pitney Bowes. The investment will considerably expand CFH’s service offerings.

University installs 50 new 3D printers
There are more and more indications that academia is ready to embrace the new technology. The latest one: The opening of the MakerBot Center for Innovation at the Dubois Library at UMass Amherst. More than 50 3D printers were installed. The Makerbot Center for Innovation will be a free resource for both students and the community.
