Amazon considers mobile 3D printing hubs
For online retailer Amazon, efficiency is the name of the game. It is thus not surprising that the company filed a patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, which outlines a method of 3D printing on-demand within mobile manufacturing hubs. According to Amazon, such a setup could save the company time and money on several fronts.

3D printed jet engines as proof-of-concept
They are not quite ready for takeoff, but 3D printed jet engines have made huge technological advances in the past months. The most recent example: Researchers at Monash University in Melbourne with help from the CSIRO and Deakin University have printed not one, but two metal jet engines. The prototype that was developed in partnership with the Monash’s commercial arm, Amaero Engineering, has already piqued the interest of international aerospace companies, such as Airbus, Raytheon and Boeing.

Constantia debuts recyclable pressure sensitive label
Constantia Flexibles Labels Division has launched SpearRC, a pressure-sensitive label material designed for use with the 400 billion global PET bottles and to allow their recycling without the associated contamination as seen with traditional pressure-sensitive label materials. The label was developed in cooperation with the Association of Post-Consumer Plastics Recyclers (APR).
