Start-up combines e-cigarettes and 3D printing
The e-cigarette has recently caused quite some controversy. Some see it as a product that could save millions of lives, while others fear it could suck a new generation into addiction. As a result, a movement has emerged that tries to remove e-cigarettes from its associations with tobacco. Rex Vapor is taking a new approach and started a crowdfunding campaign to set-up a 3D printed e-cigarette startup.

Navy going big on 3D printing
Earlier this year, the navy had already entered an R&D agreement with 3D systems to integrate 3D printing into their operations. Now, the Office of Naval Research wants to meet with 200 industry representatives. Among other things, they will discuss the possibility to give ships at sea the capability of making parts as needed. The briefings will be unclassified, but industry reps taking part must be U.S. citizens, according to an announcement.

Non-stick coating for product packaging

Now, Norwegian Orkla is developing Mayonnaise that does not get stuck, making it the first food manufacturer to use the non-stick coating by US company Liquiglide. The coating is supposed to be completely harmless as it can be made entirely from food.
