Dscoop with new leadership
The Digital Solutions Cooperative (Dscoop) has filled its top positions with new people: John Rogers will serve as the new Global Executive Director and Gary Peeling as the new Global Chairman. The new leadership was appointed for the fiscal year 2015 that started on November 1. Rogers is a print veteran with more than 30 years of experience in the industry. Peeling is Managing Director at Precision Printing Company Ltd. in the UK.

The Dieline Awards: Call for submission
The Dieline Awards 2015 are open for submissions. The categories range from food to fashion and the entries are judged by an international panel of structural packaging, design and branding, and consumer product experts. The Dieline Awards is a worldwide competition with entries accepted internationally. All entries must have been created, produced, or launched in retail between Dec 1st, 2013 and Dec 31st, 2014.

Political ads are a boon for printing business
Political campaigns rely to a large extend on printed products – flyers, mailing and posters. One commercial printer has specialized in political communication and has kept its business alive over the span of 106 years. This year, the company has printed about four million political ads while working with consultants in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Portland.

Mini USA runs campaign on recyclable billboards
Billboard advertising has not had the reputation of being especially environmentally friendly. Mini Cooper USA is now showing that there are ways to reduce the environmental footprint. The project, which is part of MINI USA’s largest marketing campaign in support of the new 2014 MINI Cooper Hardtop, aims at transforming the marketing material from the billboard campaign into re-usable tote bags for each new MINI owner.

Design marketplace raises 38 million USD in round D financing
The design market place Minted added home décor and fabric printing to its offering of unique designs from various artists and attracted another round of venture capital. Minted crowdsources art from its creative community through a series of design competitions and may add its own printers to have greater control over the quality of the printed products.
