NanoSteel’s success in AM
The NanoSteel Company, a leader in nanostructured steel materials design, has expanded its engineered powders business into additive manufacturing. By leveraging its uniform metal matrix microstructures in the laser-sintering process, the company was able to build a crack-free, fully dense bulk sample, according to their own statement.

Heidelberg introduces new digital press for labels
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG has presented a new digital press for the growth market of digitally printed labels. Heidelberg and Gallus jointly developed the digital production system for industrial label printing, which is based on inkjet technology from Fujifilm, in less than one year.

CRON enters North American print market
Hangzhou CRON, one of China’s largest CTP manufacturer, announced its entry into the North American graphic communications market by forming a joint venture company with ECRM Imaging Systems, a leader in imaging technologies for the graphic communications industry. Cary Sherburne also wrote a comment on it.

Three making processes in one
There have been a number of machines released over the past few years that combine 3D printing with CNC milling and other automated making processes. Now, Luinar has taken the TriBOT machine to Kickstarter claiming it is the first machine to ‘Print, Mill & Mold,’ offering 3D printing, CNC milling and auto-injection molding.
