Flint Group has expanded their VIVO Colour Solutions by a new digital proofing system that offers their partner from the packaging printing industry speed to market, color accuracy and cost advantages. The VIVO DigiSystem 2.0 is able to translate ink recipes into printable values and afterwards provides several benefits such as the immedate sharing of accurate print standards among multiple printers.

Safe App for Product Authentication Based on Arjo Solutions‘ Signoptic Tecchnology
Arjo Solutions has recently launched Safe, a smartphone application, which works with a vision system, allowing identification and authentication of a product. Its name is an abbreviation for Signoptic Authentication for Everyone because the app is based on Arjo Solutions‘ patented Signoptic material biometrics technology, which uses material structures as a fingerprint to verify the authenticity of a product. Applied to primary packaging, secondary packaging, or labels, Safe converts the texture of a product into a unique signature via a proprietary algorithm and thereby authenticates it.

Atlas Packaging Invests in a Customized Flexo Press
In September Atlas Packaging bought a Cuir Rotaflex providing premium quality print and enabling more efficient workflows. Their new purchased flexo press can reach speeds of up to 10.000sph, is equipped with six print units, and offers a wide range of finishes and coatings. With this investment, the corrugated packaging specialist aims to improve and enhance its packaging process.

Printed Energy for Packaging with Electronic Functionality by CPI
The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) has developed a printed energy-harvesting device for the next generation of smart packaging, which consists of a printed antenna, printed passive and active components and tuning capacitors. These parts are able to draw energy from the user’s mobile telephone by NFC technology. Thanks to their invention, it is possible to incorporate printed electronics into thin substrates such as packaging so that product designers can easily embed low cost, smart, lightweight and wireless electronics into their designs.
