LumeJet wants to use high-resolution printing process for electronics
LumeJet, a spin-out from Warwick University, developed a three-color RGB digital print head which is used in an inkless digital photographic printer. The company plans to use the printing technology for printing electronic devices such as flexible displays and OLEDs.

Smart packaging design to enhance products’ usability
After Apple’s Senior Vice President of Design Jonathan Ive confirmed that luxury editions of the Apple Watch will arrive in leather boxes that will retain function as magnetic charging docks, designers discuss ideas how to make charger less unsightly. Smart packaging seems like the best solution to combine functionality with a strong brand image.

Sappi introduces new specialty cardboard
A new addition widens Sappi Specialty Papers’ product portfolio. The company announced the introduction of Atelier, a brand-new concept in folding box board (FBB) that broadens Sappi’s offering in terms of both width and depth of coated virgin fiber carton boards for the packaging market.

Konica Minolta adds speed to monochromatic printing
The bizhub Press 1250e/1250eP and the bizhub Press 1052e series will have the added features, which, according to the company, will handle ‘high volume, and high speed monochrome printing’. While black and white printing overall is in decline, Konica Minolta sees growth in local markets.

Avery Dennison offers recycling for label matrix waste
Avery Dennison has already launched several initiatives to reduce the environmental footprint of label production. This time, the company partnered with Belgian-based Seliplast AG (Second Life for Plastics) to launch a recycling option for label matrix waste made of polypropylene and polyethylene. The program is available to converters in Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and France.
