The German company Manroland and Ultimate Technographics from Canada teamed up to develop a new software solution for digital printing. The software solution ‘The Imposer’ handles job-specific and automated imposing – for both digital and offset printing.

Metal 3D printing for the operating room
3D printing for medical devices is on the rise. 3D Systems is supporting this development with its Direct Metal Printing (DMP) technology, which is capable of building metal objects layer by layer in a variety of metals. The German medical device manufacturer Emerging Implant Technologies recently used this technology for its anatomically adapted, 3D-printed titanium fusion implant for a patient with a degenerative cervical spine condition.

Industry study: Direct mail gets best response rates
While businesses have shown that integrating their marketing strategy across several channels produce impressive results, direct mail deserves a close look. According to the surveys conducted for the 2015 Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Response Rate Report, direct mail results in seven times more responses than all other channels combined.

German Packaging Institute showcases nominees’ work
The jury awarded 53 innovative packaging solutions with a nomination for the 2015 German Packaging Award. Nearly 200 entrants from seven countries presented their work. The German Packaging Institute (dvi) is displaying all the nominees in an online gallery including picture and jury evaluation.

University of Pittsburgh receives two 3D printing grants
To educate future engineers in 3D printing technology, the University of Pittsburgh has been awarded two new grants by America Makes, totaling 1.7 million USD. With these two new grants awarded to the Swanson School of Engineering, researchers will be working to improve designs for 3D printed structures.
