Nano Dimension files U.S. patent for its 3D printing method
It looks like 3D printed electronics are not such as distant possibility anymore: Nano Dimension Technologies, one of the leading printing electronics company in the area of 3D printing, has filed a patent application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the printing of 3D models, which includes electronic conductors. The company has developed an innovative approach to print objects in 3D that contain conductive traces.

Chinese researchers 3D print nuclear fuel element
3D printing is taking hold in many different industries, ranging from aerospace to fashion to medicine. Now, it looks like there will be 3D printed elements in the nuclear industry as well. As the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) revealed, Chinese researchers have successfully 3D printed a lower tube socket of CAP1400 nuclear fuel assembly, which is the first time 3D printing has been used to construct nuclear fuel elements in China.

Ziegler paper stops its paper production
Overcapacity and unfavorable currency exchange rates were just two among a series of factors that contributed to the shut down of Ziegler’s paper production. The Swiss fine and specialty paper manufacturer said it will discontinue paper production in April 2016. The company blames its step on existing overcapacities, unfavorable currency rates and the resulting strong cost pressure.

RR Donnelley & Sons lands sizable contract with Pearson
RR Donnelley has entered into an agreement with Pearson, a leading company in education, business, and consumer publishing. RR Donnelley will provide complete supply chain management of 100 % of Pearson’s printed and other learning materials to include procurement and manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, and inventory management for Pearson’s North American operations.

Sun Chemical to showcase its inks for metal decoration
Sun Chemical has developed a range of inks for metal decoration over the years. At Cannex 2016, the company will present its latest addition to the SunDuo range, an upgrade of the existing overvarnish ink. The new OV ink offers improved performance during the printing process with better printability and compatibility with over varnish, according to the company. This results in enhanced transparency and ink mileage.

Mimaki presents ultra-wide inkjet printer for textile printing
Mimaki is trying to establish a stronger presence in the textile printing market, which will be a main focus of the company in 2016. It introduced the super-wide format TS500P-3200 inkjet printer, a 3.2 meter-wide roll-to-roll sublimation inkjet printer. It is a dedicated transfer paper printer for the textile industry, with applications including home furnishing textiles and indoor soft signage.
