3D printable medical models from real patient data
Osteo3D just released an online repository of medical 3D models. There are now more than a hundred 3D models available to doctors and other registered medical professionals. This allows them to compare their own patient’s 3D files with Osteo3D models. They can 3D print these models wherever they have access to a 3D printer.

TPC calls on printing industry for help
On the occasion of this year’s Print Futures Awards, The Printing Charity (TPC) has called on the industry to promote print to young people. Speaking at the House of Lords on 23th July, TPC chief executive Stephen Gilbert urged guests to “feel their enthusiasm, their vibrancy, their drive and their optimism for this industry.

Premier Paper acquires Advocate brand
After the demise of heavyweight paper firms Paperlinx and Tullis Russell Papermakers, Premier Paper has been strengthening its position as an industry leader. Most recently, it announced the purchase of the Advocate product brand. Premier Paper already was the exclusive distributor of Advocate and made the choice to buy the brand from Tullis Russell to ensure supply and quality of its products Advocate Smooth Natural White, Smooth Xtreme White, and Laid Xtreme White.

First digital carton printer for braille installed in the UK
Chester Medical Solutions has installed the first digital carton printer for braille in the UK. The 150,000 GBP (232,000 USD) investment allows the printing of braille dots onto a carton without the need for braille tooling, making it ideal for short runs and digitally printed cartons. The system uses a polymer drop-on-demand nozzle to apply the braille, which is then UV cured.

Messe Düsseldorf to promote printing trade Fairs at Graph Expo 2015
Messe Düsseldorf will participate in Graph Expo 2015 in order to promote its worldwide program of international printing trade fairs. At Graph Expo 2015 booth 4048, drupa 2016, All in Print China 2016 and Indoprint 2016 exhibitor and visitor information will be available.

Crowdfunding campaign for portable 3D printer
Shenzhen-based company ElecFreaks Tech has launched a crowdfunding campaign for its portable 3D printer dubbed Freaks3D. At less than 3 kg, the Freaks3D is lightweight and can comfortably be operated on a table. It also features a strong extruder system and a lightweight aluminum frame.

Constantia delivers labels for launch of premium Beck’s beers
Beck’s has recently introduced three new premium beers: Pale Ale, 1873 Pils and Amber Lager. The unique appearance of this launch was delivered by Constantia Flexibles Labels Division. All three label designs are printed on highly refined white paper to attract the customer’s attention, while a varnish that produces a matte gloss effect has been used to give the bottles a premium appearance.
